Animal Kingdom’s Galápagos Tortoises Enjoy Chowing Down on National Pumpkin Day
I never miss a chance to visit the Galápagos Tortoises on Discovery Island at Animal Kingdom. These giant monsters (they’re named Creature, Dracula, Frankenstein, Mummy, Phantom, and Wolfman) love eating, sleeping, and lounging by the pool. And they do it in relative solitude. We rarely see other guests when we visit their enclosure. That’s cool with us. We live for a crowd-less Disney World.
Last Thursday, these incredible creatures celebrated National Pumpkin Day by feasting on snacks prepared by Walt Disney World Resort’s Animal Nutrition Center Cast Members. If you’ve never watched Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you may not realize how intense tortoise dinnertimes can be.

These tortoises are living a pretty great life. I mean, wouldn’t you love having this view?
