No Livestream of D23’s Disney Experiences Showcase

Update: Disney has partnered with Epic Games to stream the Parks panel on Fortnite after the event concludes.

The Disney Experiences Showcase, D23’s most anticipated event, will not be livestreamed to the public. Instead, a livestream will only be available to Disney Cast Members. Disney livestreamed the Disney Parks panel in 2022, so I’m surprised they aren’t doing it again. Disney+ viewership of a Disney Parks and Cruise Line panel would break records on that platform.

It’s also an odd choice when you consider how Disney promoted Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. They surprised everyone by releasing a ride video one month before the attraction opened in Magic Kingdom. That took the wind out of the sails of many Disney influencers who race to be the first to share that kind of footage.

In this case, Disney is tempting influencers to livestream the Parks panel. Disney prohibits “photography, videotaping, or recording of any kind or otherwise engaging in any activity for unapproved commercial purposes,” but I’m sure you’ll find plenty of that on social media this Saturday night.

At the very least, Disney should stream the event to paying D23 members unable to attend the D23 Ultimate Fan Event in person. That would be a great perk for current members and an incentive for many to sign up for the service.
