Universal Kids Resort Trolls Appear at Texas Rangers Game

After getting no-hit by the Houston Astros on Monday night, the Texas Rangers needed some good luck before their next game. And they got it, in the form of some Trolls. Queen Poppy and Delta Dawn joined the Rangers for the pregame festivities at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Universal Kids Resort shared the moment in an Instagram story.

Update: Thanks to a tip from Alicia Stella, we now know the name of the Texas-themed Troll who accompanied Queen Poppy at Globe Life Field. Her name is Delta Dawn, a supporting character from the Trolls World Tour and Trolls: Holiday in Harmony films.

Delta Dawn threw out the first pitch. She has unmistakable Texas vibes, complete with a bouffant (we just call it Texas hair), a cowgirl hat, a plaid shirt, and a giant belt buckle. She’s also apparently part horse. Or a centaur. Honestly, we’re not entirely sure what Delta Dawn is, but she’s awesome either way.

Delta Dawn could show up in one or both of Universal Kids’ Trolls-centric shows. Trollstastic: Concert Countdown will have kids dancing and singing along to their favorite Trolls songs. Next door, the King Trollex Techno Dance Party should help kids burn off all that pent-up energy from standing in lines all day.

Promotional appearances like this are exactly the kind of marketing we expected from Universal Kids Resort. But the timing feels a bit backwards. Fans still don’t know when the park officially opens or how much it will cost to visit.

Usually, parks save these big promotional pushes until after those details have been revealed. We were told an announcement was coming last week, but that obviously didn’t happen. So while the Rangers broadcast may have gotten families excited about visiting Universal Kids Resort, there’s still no way for them to actually start planning that trip. That said, an announcement feels imminent.

Logistics aside, the power of Troll (Texas) hair came through for the Rangers. They scored eight runs in the first inning on their way to a 10–7 victory.
