New Permit Filed for Magic of Disney Animation as Walt Disney Studios Takes Shape

Walt Disney Imagineering filed a Notice of Commencement permit today for work at The Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios. Perfect timing, too. Bioreconstruct just shared several aerial photos showing the new attraction’s exterior taking shape. That’s kismet right there.

The permit covers signage installation and assigns the work to Design Communications Ltd. That name should sound familiar. The company is also responsible for installing new signage at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom.

The reimagined space is designed for kids and families “to draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences.” Those include the “Drawn to Wonderland” playground, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood exploration area.

Outside, The Walt Disney Studios is taking shape. Bioreconstruct’s aerials highlight landscaping work and some impressively large trees. Guests needing a break from the sun will certainly enjoy plenty of that when visiting the courtyard.

The Magic of Disney Animation and The Walt Disney Studios are set to debut in 2026.
