Maharajah Jungle Trek’s Bat Exhibit Closing for Refurbishment

Animal Kingdom’s bats will be unavailable to guests for the next few weeks. Starting Monday, the Maharajah Jungle Trek’s bat exhibit is closing for a short refurbishment. Here’s Disney’s announcement:

“Starting February 17, 2025, the bats exhibit at Maharajah Jungle Trek will be closed for refurbishment. The area is expected to reopen in early March 2025.”

The exhibit houses one of the largest bat species, the Malayan flying fox. If you’re not a fan of bats with 6-foot wingspans, Disney has you covered. You can bypass the area altogether. But I recommend checking them out. They’re beautiful creatures. And they won’t bother you. They’re into fruit, not people.

While not everyone on the Maharajah Jungle Trek enjoys hanging with large flying mammals, they all agree that Bakso is worth a visit. Some guests have waited an hour to see the Sumatran tiger cub since his debut last month.
