Lookout Cay Welcomes Guests Ahead of Official Opening

Guests sailing on the Disney Magic are living the dream today. Disney Cruise Line’s first ship just docked at Eleuthera, the home of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. While the island doesn’t officially open until June 10, guests and select media are being treated to a special preview of Disney’s newest home in the Bahamas.
Guests will immediately notice how far the pier extends from the island. This was done to prevent the need for dredging and protect the island’s natural beauty.
Here’s a look at the dock guests will walk down to get a tram on the island, to get to the other side of the island. Plus a look at the Lookout Cay map. pic.twitter.com/5HiDWhJw3u

Scott Sanders of the Disney Cruise Line Blog estimates the pier to be half a mile long. There is no shade, so be sure to wear a big dorky hat. The family beach is on the opposite side of the island. I enjoy walking to the beach when on Castaway Cay, but the Lookout Cay trams are going to be a must.
For those wondering, the trestle pier Al Lookout Cay is just shy of 1/2 mile long. To go from the ship to the water on the family beach is a little over 1 1/2 miles based on rough estimates using February 2024 imagery from Google Earth. pic.twitter.com/qKRfPPf8wA

Disney shared some promotional photos of the island, including Rush Out Gush Out. The water play area features two slides and interactive elements like water drums and fountains.
