Listen to Music from EPCOT's Luminous The Symphony of Us

I’m pretty excited about Luminous The Symphony of Us, the new nighttime spectacular coming to EPCOT on December 5. And it’s not just because it means the World Showcase Lagoon is beautiful again. No, I’m happy because Disney teased some of the music to be featured in this show, and it sounds great. I also love that Disney provided footage of the vocalists and orchestra musicians who recorded the score. As a former professional musician, I always appreciate when we get a little screen time. Listen to these artists perform an excerpt from the score and the show’s new song, Heartbeat Symphony:

Harmonious was a good show. The barges were impressive, but only at night. I appreciated the music even though it was entirely focused on Disney movies. It sounds like this new score is going back to EPCOT’s roots. That’s going to make a lot of people very happy.

For those who may be curious, you’ll see and hear a cimbasso in the above video. It’s a cool instrument usually played by a tubist. Anyway, back to the show. Here’s how Disney descibes the Luminous show:

Delight in a dramatic show designed to bring us all together. Marvel at a dazzling pageant of fireworks, fountains, music and lights set to an original composition. New music, along with evocative selections from the Disney songbook, come together to remind us that we are more alike than we are different.

I’m down with all of that.

Harmonious barges ruined our views of the World Showcase during the day. Luminous will also use barges, but they will be brought from backstage each evening. I snapped a photo of one of the six barges during a visit last month.
