Kidani Village Lobby Refurbishment Runs August Through Early November
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village lobby is slated for some major upgrades over the next few months. From mid-August through early November, the lobby and several surrounding areas will be unavailable to guests at various times.
While undeniably beautiful, Kidani Village’s lobby is much smaller than the one next door at Jambo House. There isn’t much room to close the actual lobby in phases, so this refurbishment may have a greater impact on guests than a similar project would at the much larger lobby next door.
That’s not to say the project won’t have multiple steps. From August 17 through October 9, check-in and front desk services will be relocated to the Palace Library. The hotel’s main entrance will also be closed. Johari Treasures, the hotel’s store, will also close on August 17, but it is scheduled to reopen on August 29.
From September 28 through October 9, the north lobby corridor will be unavailable. The closure will also affect the second-floor elevators and outdoor terrace.
Finally, the south lobby corridor will close from October 26 through November 6. This one brings several additional closures with it:
- Community Hall
- Laundry room
- Lobby restrooms
- Outdoor terrace observation deck
- Palace Library
- Safari So Good Arcade
Disney has informed guests that they may hear construction noise during the day throughout the project.
The Kidani Village lobby is one of our favorite places to return to after a day in the parks. It’s filled with African-inspired artwork and artifacts and some of the most beautiful lighting at Walt Disney World. The roof is a work of art in its own right, combining thatch with sweeping curved timbers. The two-story windows also offer views of the Sunset Savanna and its many animals.
That last paragraph is my way of saying this refurbishment had better not interfere with any of that greatness.
