Imagineering Reveals Wood Carving for Animal Kingdom’s Tropical Americas
Walt Disney Imagineering shared a social media reel offering a quick peek inside the Tropical Americas project. The new land is replacing the recently closed DinoLand U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom.
In a departure from the norm, the video highlights planning and budgeting Imagineers, not creatives. Kaitlyn, a Project Controls Estimator, and Lola, a Project Controls Planner, walk us through several wood samples and finish options. Blue tape labels show different stain tests, including a couple labeled “coffee.”
The real standout, though, is a carved wood proof-of-concept featuring floral details. There’s no indication of where or how it’ll be used, but it’s the kind of piece that’s going to draw your eye wherever it ends up.
Coordinating a project of Tropical Americas’ scale, with countless contractors involved, is no small feat. If that sounds appealing (and you’re qualified), Imagineering is currently recruiting a Project Controls Planning intern.
Tropical Americas – and that beautiful carving – are set to arrive at Animal Kingdom in 2027.
