Friday's Disney Wish Sailing Canceled Due to Hurricane Milton

Worried about the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, Disney Cruise Line has canceled the Disney Wish sailing scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024. Milton, forecasted to be a Category 2 storm as it passes directly over Port Canaveral, could bring 2 to 4-foot storm surges with it.

Guests with reservations for that cruise received the following email this morning. The Disney Cruise Line Blog was the first to report this news.

We are contacting you with important information about your sailing this Friday, October 11, on the Disney Wish.

We have been closely monitoring Hurricane Milton and its projected path, which is expected to move through Central Florida later this week. Due to the weather conditions most recently forecasted for Port Canaveral and Central Florida and the impact that it might have on port operations, we have made the difficult decision to cancel your sailing.

You will automatically receive a refund back to your original form of payment. As a thank you for your understanding, we will provide each Guest with a 20% future cruise discount on their voyage fare*. To redeem the 20% future cruise discount, please contact us (or have your travel agent contact us) on or after October 15, 2024, at 407-566-7797 or 1-866-325-6685.

We truly appreciate your understanding regarding this necessary cancellation and hope that you will sail with us soon.

Sincerely,
The Cast and Crew

Now would be a good time to remind everyone to purchase travel insurance when cruising, especially when your sailing happens during hurricane season. While Disney is providing full refunds, airlines and hotels might not always be as accommodating.
