First Look: The Sanctum on the Disney Destiny

The Disney Destiny is welcoming dozens of media and influencers on board today. Luckily for those of us stuck on dry land, Disney is sharing photos from inside its newest ship. We’ve already covered De Vil’s, so now it’s time to inspect The Sanctum—a lounge themed to Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

“Step through the velvet curtains and discover The Sanctum, a centrally located entertainment parlor where the atmosphere is brimming with magic and mystery. Rich red and gold accents woven throughout the space draw inspiration from the distinct coloring of Doctor Strange’s Cloak of Levitation, which is displayed in The Sanctum alongside other familiar icons and trinkets.”

Before stepping inside the real thing, here’s the concept art Disney shared in April:

And here’s how it turned out:

For the most part, the final product matches the original design. The biggest changes are reserved for the tables, which are thankfully taller and lamp-less. Both updates are welcome. Nobody likes reaching down for food and drinks, no matter how chic those tables make the room look. And in this case, form should follow function. And the function of these tables should be to serve as many plates of stuffed waffles with custard cream filling as possible.

While not visible in this photo, the parlor includes several of Doctor Strange’s relics, including his Cloak of Levitation. The bar itself frames the hero’s iconic skylight, a window that shifts colors “to represent the powerful forces protecting The Sanctum from supernatural invasions.”

The Sanctum is open to guests of all ages, with a menu featuring cocktails, mocktails, coffees, and those waffles I can’t stop thinking about. At various times, it will host craft classes and trivia challenges. Doctor Strange’s parlor officially opens its doors when the Disney Destiny embarks on its inaugural voyage on November 20, 2026.
