First Look: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
Disney shared new details about the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s rebrand. Aerosmith is getting kicked to the curb, making way for The Muppets. And if anyone knows how that feels, it’s Kermit. He and the gang were recently bounced by Mike and Sulley.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets isn’t getting an extreme makeover. Instead, the gang, backed by Scooter’s wealthy uncle, J.P. Grosse, is simply taking over G-Force Records. Inside the studio, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry have finally wrapped their session. Let’s have Mallory from the Disney Parks Blog set the rest of the scene:
“With your VIP passes, you’ll be welcomed inside the recording studio, where – wouldn’t you know it – you’ll find the Electric Mayhem are cranking out some seriously rocking tunes. Along with the finest audio engineers (all penguins, of course) we’ll see Scooter doing his best to convince Electric Mayhem to stop jamming and get to their increasingly restless fans. But will it be enough to get the band across town and onstage in time?
“With the help from our friends at Muppet Labs and a very fast limousine, we’ll take a twisting, turning, and screamingly fun road trip across Hollywood to reach the concert in time. The iconic scenery and landmarks of Tinseltown will feature a Muppet twist.”
How awesome are those penguins?! I love that Imagineers found gigs for at least a couple of Muppet*Vision 3D’s pit musicians.
On the ride itself, the Aerosmith soundtrack is being replaced with an Electric Mayhem playlist featuring “some of the most iconic, rockin’ hits.” Disney says a full setlist is coming soon. Here’s hoping “Walk This Way” makes the cut.
A new poster confirms what the previous poster revealed: the limo ride vehicle is returning, albeit with a psychedelic paint job reminiscent of Fozzie’s Studebaker from The Muppet Movie. Oh, what could have been! Imagine cruising 0 to 57 in 2.8 seconds in the Studebaker instead. Or the Electric Mayhem Bus! Muppet Labs could’ve made both happen.
Whatever the car, Animal seems excited.
Outside, the reskinning continues. The larger-than-life guitar will get its own psychedelic paint job. Crews will also paint one of the piano keys gold in honor of Dr. Teeth, the band’s leader.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s makeover looks like it’ll keep the ride’s spirit intact while adding plenty of Muppet greatness. Yes, it’s a reskin, but that’s not a bad thing. After all, we’re getting a Muppets-filled queue and the same brain-scrambling coaster we all love so much. Let’s just hope they fix the single rider queue.
