Explore Disney Parks with Ease: MDE and Disneyland Apps Get Map Updates
Fans of Disney and usability should be happy today. The My Disney Experience (MDE) and Disneyland apps have received much-needed updates to their map tools. Gone are the days of hidden content and a clunky interface. Users can now quickly and easily find specific details about the parks and resorts.
I shared a quick video highlighting the new tools on Bluesky.
Disney has greatly improved the map tools in the MDE and Disneyland apps.

You’ll notice the addition of two horizontal menus at the top of the screen. The primary menu is always present. The second tier changes based on which primary menu item is selected. The map has a slightly smaller footprint as a result, but not enough to affect usability.

The always-present menus allow users to drill down to their desired selections quickly. In the past, that content was hidden behind a tap. And the resulting menu didn’t have the kind of details that are now available. Want to know where you can buy Mickey Ears with mobile checkout? The new filters have you covered.
Primary menu items
- Wait Times
- Dining
- Attractions
- Entertainment
- Characters
- Restrooms
- Shops
- Transportation
- Guest Services
- Events and Tours
- PhotoPass
- Resort Hotels
Once you’ve made your selections, you can view the results in the map or a list view. Tap the “view list” button at the bottom of the screen for the latter. Toggling the views is a snap, and the resulting transitions are smooth. Resetting the filters is also easy.

Some tools jumped out at me. I love how easy it is to find ride height requirements and PhotoPass Magic Shot locations. The same is true for restrooms, nighttime spectaculars, and park transportation. Really, everything is much more accessible now.

I do have one small nit to pick. The “guest services” tab doesn’t offer secondary filters. With so many guest service options, I’d love the ability to narrow down the results.

The new MDE and Disneyland app map features are impressive. Kudos to Disney IT for creating something so beautiful. Everyone will benefit from this update, from power users to first-time visitors.
