Disneyland Cast Members Vote to Ratify Contract

Last weekend, Disneyland workers voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. While Disney and the Master Services Council, a coalition representing 14,000 Cast Members, had been negotiating since April, the negotiating tactic had the desired effect. The two sides were able to come to an agreement earlier this week. Disneyland Cast Members voted to ratify the contract this evening.

“Our new three-year contract agreements with Disney have officially been ratified. Thank you for taking the time to vote and ensuring your voice was heard.”

Disney Workers Rising Bargaining Committee

Cast Members are getting a significant jump in pay. Employees currently earning the $19.90 minimum wage will receive a raise of $4.10 per hour. That starting wage will increase by one dollar in the second and third years of the contract. Disney wanted a five-year contract but settled on three.

Cast Members with over 10 years of service will receive an extra $.50 per hour. Those with 20 years of employment will receive an extra $2.00 per hour.

Jessica Good, a Disney spokesperson, said this of the agreement: “We care deeply about the well-being of our cast members and are pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with Master Services Council that addresses what matters most to our cast while positioning Disneyland Resort for future growth and job creation.”
