“Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After” Debuts Next Summer

Fans watching tonight’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular were treated to some theme park news. During the special, Mark Renfrow, Show Director for Disney Live Entertainment, revealed the name of the new show set to replace Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. “Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After” will debut in the summer of 2025.

“The Magic Mirror serves as our reflective guide into this villainous realm. It’s not long before some of the most fiendish foes — like Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent — break through the glass in wickedly awesome live production numbers.”

Plenty has happened since Disney first revealed the villains show in September. Last week, Disney surprised us all when they announced that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which sits adjacent to the new villains home, would be getting a Muppets overlay. That sounds cool, but it didn’t resonate with most fans. That’s because we learned that the Muppets were getting evicted from the Muppets Courtyard just moments before.

The two stories made me wonder. Could Imagineers turn the southeast corner of Hollywood Studios into the new home of the Muppets? The theater could host Muppet*Vision 3D (or a new pun-filled production). While a Muppets coaster has potential, many fans want to experience their favorite characters without all the G-forces. Yes, Disney had just announced the villains show, but those plans could be altered, couldn’t they?

Apparently not. Tonight’s announcement confirms that we’ll have to wait a while longer to see where the Muppets land. No matter the fate of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo, “Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After” should be an excellent new addition to Hollywood Studios.
