Disney Teases Luke Skywalker in Galaxy’s Edge
Is Luke Skywalker coming to Galaxy’s Edge? It sure does look that way. Disney Parks shared a teaser video of a robed Jedi and R2-D2 hanging out in Batuu. The caption:
“A Jedi… like his father before him.”
A second social media post referenced Season of the Force. Disneyland’s Star Wars event runs from March 28 to May 11, 2025.
Luke doesn’t make sense for Batuu’s timeline. The land was originally set between the events of Episodes 8 and 9. Disney relaxed that canon in recent years. Disneyland has welcomed Mando, Grogu, Ahsoka, and Hera. Mando and Grogu have been seen in Hollywood Studios. That duo is also taking over Smugglers Run on both coasts in 2026.
Lucasfilm’s Matt Martin explained the muddled timeline:
“Star Wars storytelling is [set] across so many eras, and we wanted to give people the opportunity to meet characters from some of those new things that are coming out that may not be within the original, intended timeline. So, what we do is we try and look at the area each character is in as that exists where they are. They’re visiting Batuu in the time that you know them from the series—or somewhere close to it—and you’re getting to meet them [then and] there. And Walt Disney Imagineering has a pretty good way of ensuring that those characters don’t intrude on each other. That way your immersion isn’t broken when you’re meeting Sabine in one place and walk off and meet Kylo elsewhere.”

I’ll buy that, but Luke Skywalker in Galaxy’s Edge feels different. He’s 1977 Star Wars. Not Disney+ Star Wars. I wouldn’t mind Disney taking a sledgehammer to Batuu’s timeline. And not just in California. Disney World guests deserve to meet Luke, too.
