Disney Renames Animal Kingdom’s Affection Section to “Jumping Junction”

Goodbye, Affection Section. Hello, Jumping Junction.

When Conservation Station reopens on May 26, its longtime petting zoo will be replaced by an Australian animal exhibit featuring wallabies and kangaroos. And since guests won’t be getting affectionate with the residents anymore, Disney wisely opted for a name that better fits an exhibit full of hopping marsupials.

Here’s how the Disney Parks Blog made the announcement:

“Once guests hop off the Wildlife Express Train, it’s time for fun. Play special games directly from “Bluey” episodes, grab a photo with Bluey and Bingo themselves, and even discover animals native to Bluey’s home country, Australia, at ‘Jumping Junction.'”

The new Jumping Junction name is part of a larger refresh for the area. Rafiki’s Planet Watch is being renamed to Conservation Station (previously used as the name of the area’s main building).

Inside, the Animation Experience is also getting replaced with a meet-and-play space featuring Bluey and Bingo. Guests will be able to take photos with the Australian Heelers and play games inspired by the TV show.

The main building will continue to house the Veterinary Treatment Room and its small animal exhibits.

Jumping Junction feels much more appropriate for an exhibit filled with kangaroos and wallabies. And yes, I’ll be singing “Conjunction Junction, what’s your function?” every time I ride the Wildlife Express Train out there.
