Disney Cruise Line Adding Four New Ships
The Disney Cruise Line fleet currently includes five ships. That number will feel quaint by 2031. That’s because Disney has inked a deal with Meyer Werft to build four new ships. When all are complete, Disney’s fleet will include 13 vessels. Disney announced the news at D23’s Horizons Parks panel presentation on Saturday. Meyer Werft confirmed the deal today:
“We are very happy to continue our partnership with Disney Cruise Line and build four additional outstanding ships over the next seven years. We now have eight ships for Disney Cruise Line in our order book which reflects the trust in our capabilities and hard work of our team.”

The German shipbuilder has a long relationship with Disney, beginning when the two companies collaborated on the Disney Dream. Fincantieri built Disney’s first two ships, the Magic and Wonder.
The first ship will be delivered in 2027. We don’t have any further information about names, designs, or itineraries, but we know plenty about the other ships currently in development.
Some have speculated that these ships could signal the end of the Magic and Wonder. We hope that’s not the case. We love the charm of those original ships. And you’ll never have an easier time finding an umbrella on Castaway Cay’s family beach than when you sail on those two.
