Cast Member Injured Protecting Guests During Indiana Jones Stunt Show
A Cast Member was injured during a performance of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Hollywood Studios earlier today. We’re not going to bury the lede: according to Scott Gustin, the CM received medical care and is recovering. The Cast Member prevented what could have been a far more serious situation for guests seated nearby.
The incident occurred during the show’s opening sequence, which recreates the first act of Raiders of the Lost Ark. After Indy escapes with the golden idol, a 400-pound rubber boulder is released down a track. Usually, the prop rolls harmlessly toward its resting spot at the bottom of the set.
During today’s performance, however, the boulder clipped a set piece, jumped the wall, and bounced high in the air toward the stands. That’s when the Cast Member rushed in to stop its momentum, absorbing the impact himself. According to a social media post, the Cast Member, a former stuntman named Robert, received six stitches.

The Cast Member’s quick thinking likely prevented guest injuries. We’re relieved to hear he’s recovering. He deserves all the Cast Member compliments.
