Bakso the Tiger Is Leaving Disney’s Animal Kingdom This Fall
Bakso, everyone’s favorite baby tiger cub, isn’t a baby anymore. The Sumatran tiger just celebrated his second birthday at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately for us, it’ll be his last birthday celebration at Walt Disney World. Later this fall, Bakso will leave the park for another Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA)-accredited zoo.
It’s a natural step. As tigers mature, they become independent of their mothers and move into their own territories. Bakso’s move could also play a role in the future of his species. Fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild. Hopefully, he’ll father tiger cubs of his own.
Disney works with the Association’s Species Survival Plan to support endangered species in human care. For Animal Kingdom guests, that means saying goodbye to the cub who drew so much attention when his parents, Sohni and Conrad, welcomed him in 2024.
Disney hasn’t announced when Bakso will say his goodbyes. If you’d like to see him again, make time for the Maharajah Jungle Trek this fall.
