Baby Masai Giraffe Ivy Will Soon Join Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom’s Kilimanjaro Safaris is about to get a little cuter. Ivy, a young Masai giraffe, will soon make her debut on the savanna.
The calf was born in April, weighing in at 120 pounds and standing 6 feet tall. Under the watchful eye of her mother, Willow, she’s getting acclimated to life at Animal Kingdom in the backstage barns. But it won’t be long before Kilimanjaro Safaris trucks are filled with oohs and aahs as guests spot the beautiful girl.
Ivy is the second Masai giraffe born at Walt Disney World since early 2025. Last spring, Mara gave birth to Tucker, Ivy’s half-brother. Tucker was the first giraffe born at Animal Kingdom since 2021.
With only about 30,000 Masai giraffes remaining in the wild, the species is classified as endangered. That makes Ivy and Tucker more than just cute additions to a theme park attraction. They’re part of a breeding program designed to maintain a healthy and genetically diverse giraffe population.
