Astro Orbiter Quietly Reopens at Magic Kingdom

With very little fanfare, Astro Orbiter reopened today in Magic Kingdom. The attraction had been closed for a refurbishment since January 13. Unlike most ride updates, much of the work was done off-site.

Crews reinstalled the aerial flyer and its colorful planets earlier this month. Ride testing began shortly after. We don’t know if the update included any accessibility improvements. Mariann outlined her accessibility concerns in a previous article. We’ll be sure to follow up the next time we ride.

Astro Orbiter’s return seems to be going smoothly. The current wait time is 25 minutes.

The only downside to today’s news is that Disney never let me update my countdown clock with an actual date. Disney still lists a “summer 2025” reopening on the ride’s official page.
