Lion King’s Pride Lands Is Coming to Disney Adventure World

Disneyland Paris’ second park (soon to be named Disney Adventure World) is set to welcome Pride Lands. The Lion King-themed land will include a log flume ride, themed dining, shopping, and character meets. Despite the confusing concept art seen above, Pride Lands is themed after the 1994 classic animated film and not the 2019 live-action remake.

As an aside, Disney needs to take greater care with their concept art. Fans love to dissect these images; any discrepancies will surely be called out. The Pride Lands error was obvious to even the most casual observer. I’m surprised that it made it to D23’s Parks presentation.

Fans of The Lion King will immediately recognize Pride Rock, the setting for the land’s lone attraction. As you’d expect from a Disney log ride, it will include signature thrills and cutting-edge animatronics. Disney calls it an “adventure-filled water attraction that will plunge guests beneath the rock to follow Simba on his journey from cub to king.”

Imagineers unveiled a model of the land the morning after D’Amaro’s announcement. Disney Parks Blog said, “Eagle-eyed fans may notice some familiar markings on rocks throughout the model.” I wasn’t at D23 to confirm. The images they shared have a very shallow depth of field, so seeing anything in the rocks is impossible.

Concept art criticisms aside, Pride Lands does look like a beautiful addition to Disney Adventure World. I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney brings it to Animal Kingdom at some point. That park needs rides, and with Disney’s love of IP attractions and the Pride Lands’ beautiful African savanna setting, this one is a no-brainer.

Prides Lands construction will begin in Disney Adventure World in 2025.
