Bob Iger Visits Future Site of Disneyland Abu Dhabi

Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, shared photos from the future site of Disneyland Abu Dhabi. The resort, to be located on Yas Island, was announced in May 2025.

In the photos, Iger is shown walking the sandy, waterfront site. He also shared this message:

“Walking the site of what will one day be Disneyland Abu Dhabi! Lots of work ahead, but all very exciting!”

This will be Disney’s 13th theme park, but only the third not fully owned by the company. Tokyo Disney’s two parks are owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company.

The Abu Dhabi resort will be owned by Miral Group, with Disney retaining full creative control. That arrangement was confirmed earlier this spring by Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, who said Disney will be responsible for all design and creative efforts. They’ll also support operations, ensuring guests “feel that same Disney Magic.”

Greenlighting Disneyland Abu Dhabi may be one of Iger’s final major decisions as CEO. Disney is expected to announce his successor in February, with many industry watchers pointing to D’Amaro as the likely choice.
