Disney World Ends Virtual Queues for Cosmic Rewind, Tiana’s

Finally! Walt Disney World has announced that the virtual queues for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure are ending. Starting February 25, guests can join a standby queue at each attraction. Lightning Lane options for both rides remain unchanged. Here’s the announcement:

“Beginning February 25, 2025, Guests will be able to experience Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind via a standby queue, Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Premier Pass. A virtual queue will no longer be offered at this attraction.”

The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure announcement has the same text, minus the ride name.

Cosmic Rewind used a virtual queue for almost three years. That was longer than most of us would have liked, but the ride’s popularity (and EPCOT’s lack of thrill rides) made it necessary. For a while. Our friends found an empty queue when they visited last September.

Yes, that was an outlier. September is a slower period. But it gave us hope that the 7 AM wake-up calls could be coming to an end.

Tiana’s used the virtual queue for different reasons. Yes, it was a popular ticket when it debuted last summer. However, the ride’s unreliability forced Disney to keep the system in place longer than they intended. They had announced that the virtual queue would only be used on the ride’s “initial opening days.” That proved to be wishful thinking. In contrast, Disneyland’s Tiana’s, which has been far more reliable, went standby within a month of opening.

Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure virtual queues will retire when the parks close on February 24. Enjoy the extra sleep!
